After the threat of a class action lawsuit, the streaming provider DAZN is changing its subscription structure.
Three new packages are now available.
The complete offer is thus again: more expensive.
London/Munich – After the streaming provider DAZN announced and enforced hefty price increases in 2022, the complaints continue.
As previously reported by kreiszeitung.de, the rip-off at DAZN caused a shitstorm, consumer advocates now want to sue.
The streaming service is now introducing new tariffs.
Among them is also a dumping offer for 9.99 euros per month.
But appearances are deceptive: Because new customers have to dig much deeper into their pockets if they want to use the entire offer – for example, if they want to see both Bundesliga games and darts tournaments.
DAZN is threatened with lawsuits, now there are new subscription tariffs – the complete package is significantly more expensive
Since August 2022, DAZN has been charging more than twice as much as in the previous year in Germany for access to its streaming services – up to a whopping 360 euros per year.
The sports streaming portal received harsh scolding from customers for this – and is now even
facing a class action lawsuit sought by the
Federal Consumer Association (vzbv) .
They consider the underlying terms and conditions clause to be “non-transparent” and therefore the price increase for existing customers to be “illegal”.

DAZN is now responding to the criticism with a new subscription structure.
And that doesn't really make it any better.
Because new customers who want to use the entire program and can cancel it monthly have to put a third more on the table, namely a whopping 39.99 euros.
New subscription packages at DAZN: Three options, one is cheaper than before
The provider's website states: "DAZN will be introducing a new package for new customers from January 9: DAZN World." It is the cheapest available offer among three new package options and offers international packages for EUR 9.99 per month Football cup competitions such as the Copa del Rey, the FA Cup or the Women's Champions League, all handball broadcasts, darts and the Tour de France.

However, if you want to watch football in the Champions League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, international football matches, the NFL and NBA, you have to spend at least EUR 24.99 a month (for an annual membership) or EUR 24.99 (membership that can be canceled monthly) for the Fork out the "DAZN Standard" package.
The problem: Large parts of the "DAZN World" offer, such as darts, tennis and winter sports, are no longer included - unlike the previous complete program at a single price.
Only those who book the third "Unlimited" package can access all program content at any time.
With an annual contract, this costs 29.99 euros per month (previously: 24.99 euros), in the monthly cancellable version 39.99 per month, i.e. around 480 euros per year (previously: 360 euros).

DAZN complete access will be expensive: New prices and conditions initially only for new customers
It is difficult to predict whether the price changes will also affect sports freaks with current contracts in the medium term.
"We are currently not planning any changes for existing customers" can be read on the DAZN website.
How the prices of existing "memberships" are dealt with also depends on the outcome of the class action lawsuit announced by the consumer advice center against the streaming provider, in which Werder fans can also hope for a refund.
But first, the Munich Regional Court is hearing whether the price change clause of the streaming portal from February 2022 is effective.
The umbrella organization of consumer protection associations vzbv
had already obtained judgments
against price adjustment clauses on Netflix and Spotify .
