While you were sleeping, the Golden Globes returned - and with it all the glam! The biggest stars of Hollywood slipped into crazy dresses designed by the best leading fashion houses in the world

After a hiatus last year amid financial and ethical controversy, the Golden Globes are back tonight (10/01), in full glory!, to honor the best film and television performances of the past year.

As is the best tradition, before the ceremony began, in its 80th edition, the Illestrians showed up in their best suits on the red carpet (okay, it was gray) outside the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Beverly Hills, California.

The stars celebrated the beginning of the awards season in crazy dresses that embody the required traditional glamour, but a number of fresh and surprising silhouettes were also seen.

Even considering the absence of former creative director Alessandro Michele, the Gucci fashion house made a considerable impact on the red carpet.

From spectacular classic dresses to sparkling creations or sculpted silhouettes that are nothing short of brilliant.

Here are the best red carpet moments that the 80th Golden Globes provided tonight.

1. Rihanna

With her first nomination for the Golden Globe, for the best original song for her work in the movie "Black Panther" with the song "Lift Me Up", she skated on the red carpet in a dramatic and sculpted black performance, haute couture of course, which included a strapless dress with gathers and a velvet coat abundant in fabric and glam - which was custom designed for her by the Schiaparelli fashion house.

As someone who has never shied away from "sparkling like a diamond", Riri completed the look with spectacular bling - a sparkling statement necklace and earrings by Cartier, elegant sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti and a clutch by Roger Vivier.

It should be noted that we were less attached to the hairstyle, but we'll forgive her for that!

2. Margo Ruby

The "Babylon" candidate stunned in a beautiful Chanel dress, which was custom-made for her in a job that lasted over 750 hours, which were carefully carried out by the craftsmen of the French fashion house.

Ruby, who has developed a close relationship with Chanel over the years, teamed up again tonight for the Golden Globes.

Made of light pink Chantilly lace combined with silk tulle, with a "chevron" motif embellished with sequins, beads and feathers, the piece was certainly a fitting choice for the occasion, as the actress was nominated for several major awards tonight.

And if the dress feels a little familiar, that's because it was inspired by a look featured in Chanel's Fall 2022 collection, designed by creative director Virginie Viard.

3. Jenna Ortega

The star of "Wednesday", the hit Netflix series, and the one who is (indirectly) responsible for the viral trend-song on the networks that we can't get out of our heads ("I dance dance.. with my hands hands..") wore Gucci and it was so good!

The contrast between the feminine dress, soft and flowing in a copper shade on the one hand, but with bold cut-outs, and the edgy figure in Ortega's dark shade (also off screen) on the other - worked together in amazing harmony.

Close stylist Enrique Melendez, who is responsible for all the crazy looks of the young star of the hour, chose a Gucci dress for her from the Spring-Summer 2023 Ready To Wear collection, and loaded her neck with breathtaking necklaces by Tiffany & Co.

Ortega's freezing and stunning look, by the way, is an accessory in itself.

4. Jessica Chastain

The "George and Tammy" nominee won over the red carpet, and us, as she exuded geometric glamor in a futuristic Oscar de la Renta mermaid gown.

The dress featured an intricate cobweb-like pattern, heavily studded with stones, and a raised round key.

In terms of accessories, her stylist Ursula Garcia chose to go for minimalism, and rightly so.

Chastain wore Gucci rings, her red hair was pulled into a tight bun, and her makeup was soft and warm.

5. Selena Gomez

The candidate in the series "Only murderers in the building" put on a performance that is the embodiment of the glamorous Hollywood classic, designed by the Valentino fashion house, from the Fall-Winter 2022 couture collection. It is a velvet strapless dress, with a maddening square key in the chest and a generous leg slit, which was teamed with extra puffy sleeves in eggplant purple.

Looking elegant and chic as ever, Gomez completed her glam look with black Santoni sandals, a deliberately tousled ponytail and natural makeup.

6. Michelle Williams

When it comes to the dress of the candidate for the movie "The Fivelmen", everything is in the (many) amazing details!

Like an abundance of cream-toned ruffles accented with metallic fringe, an asymmetric one-shoulder silhouette, plus a long, ruffled train.

With this Gucci dress, Williams presented the re-vision of Raffles, leaning towards a super-feminine and even sexy aesthetic through a body-hugging silhouette, sheer fabrics and the right balance between drama and refinement.

The actress accessorized the performance with champagne-colored platform shoes with a decoration that mimics the waves in her dress, and refined jewelry sponsored by Tiffany & Co.

7. Latisha Wright

"Princess Prada", that's what stylist Shiona Turini called the "Black Panther" star, who wore an orange-white dress designed by the Italian fashion house, from the recently presented spring 2023 collection.

This isn't a "typical" choice for such a glitzy ceremony, and that's exactly why we love Wright's look by far!

A dress in a straight and clean cut, but precise, with a unique ombre print that did all the work.

The British star completed the fashion-forward look with orange heeled sandals and delicate jewelry.

An unusual but excellent choice!

8. Angela Bassett

The iconic Angela Bassett rocked bling from head to toe.

After conquering the red carpet in a skin-tight and dazzling (in a good way!) Pamela Rowland gown, the Eilester took home the award for Best Supporting Actress for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

To close out the winning look, Bassett completed the look with Sarah Flint heeled sandals and Chopard bling.

9. And how is it possible without the Israeli angle!

Danielle Peak showed up at the Golden Globe Awards next to her husband, acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino, looking like a golden goddess.

Peake wore a spectacular dress by designer Lee Garbanau, with a super sexy deep v-neck in the front and a mesmerizing trail.

Her long dark hair was a perfect contrast to the golden dress.
