Sore throat caused by thyroid problems
A functioning thyroid is vital.
It produces the two thyroid hormones T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (tetraiodothyronine or thyroxine), which control many metabolic processes and bodily functions.
As the
German Thyroid Center
informs, the two hormones mainly affect body weight, blood pressure, fat and protein metabolism, digestion, psyche, muscle metabolism, cholesterol levels and insulin production.
If the thyroid gland releases too little T3 or T4, this leads to complaints that affect the entire organism.
A sore throat can indicate that the thyroid gland is unhealthy - but it doesn't have to be.
If in doubt, always consult a doctor.
Only he can initiate the appropriate therapy in the event of a thyroid disease.
