This robot in the likeness of Yayoi Kusama is sure to turn heads.
An animated version of the iconic Japanese artist is currently painting his famous polka dots from inside the window of the Louis Vuitton store on Place Vendome in Paris.
Installed this Thursday, January 5, this surprisingly realistic automaton moves its lips, widens its eyes, smiles at passers-by, makes faces and waves its brush.

This robotic animation of rare complexity can in fact be seen in three cities around the world: on New York's Fifth Avenue, in the windows of Harrods in London and therefore in Paris.
It allows the French luxury brand to promote a broader partnership with the artist, which has resulted in the creation of more than 450 pieces including bags, perfumes and sneakers.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Kusama and his team worked with Louis Vuitton for a year and a half on the collaboration, with their second, a first taking place in 2012. “Combining Yayoi Kusama's creativity and Louis Vuitton know-how, the new collection revisits iconic creations of the house in the colors of the artist (...).
An ode to art, audacity and craftsmanship,” says the brand's website.

In addition to the automaton in the place Vendôme boutique, the brand's flagship on the avenue des Champs-Élysées has had its façade transformed: it too pays homage to the artist with an unusual monumental sculpture representing her.
