"The opposition points out that in the FdI program there was, among the points, an item on the sterilization of state revenues on energy and fuel, with an automatic "reduction of VAT and excise duties". It means that
if you have more from the increase in fuel prices you use them to lower taxes. But we didn't have more income, of course
. So it's a very different commitment from "we will cut excise duties". An objective that we continue to share and on which we will work, but commitment that in the current context we could not take". Meloni writes it in his comment on Fb on his latest episode of the Notes
"Instead of spreading 10 billion, we decided to concentrate resources on those who needed them most. We made a choice that I claim and which is one of social justice".
This was stated
by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a video on social media.
"They tell us that we have miscalculated - he adds - I have heard everything, I am monitoring the price of petrol. The data that was published on the Made in Italy ministry website was 1,812, a price we would like to be lower however changes compared to what was experienced in previous years".
Expensive petrol, Meloni: 'With the cut in excise duties there would have been no other aid'
"To cut excise duties, we could not have increased the health fund, the household audience to calm domestic bills, for SME credits: all these measures would have been canceled to provide for the cut in excise duties".
"The majority of petrol stations are honest and responsible and we have to intervene to protect them. In CDM we have decided to strengthen the sanctioning rules for those who do not comply with the communications required by law and we have established that each petrol station displays the average daily price".
"I am convinced of the choices I made because I think it was more sensible to help those with low wages - said Meloni -, those who did not have a job, those who are unable to go shopping rather than using resources to allow, let's say to me, I'm talking about me, who in any case have a respectable salary to pay less for petrol. This is a government that has to make choices".
