It is easy to declare that this is nepotism in all its glory, but it appears that Delphine Arnaud (47) earned her position honestly, of course depending on who you ask.
She joined the family business in 2000 after two years at the McKinsey management consulting company, and graduating from the London School of Economics.
Arnault joined the LVMH board in 2003 - becoming the first woman and the youngest person to serve on it.
She comes to the position after a decade as deputy CEO of Louis Vuitton, and was chosen to replace Pietro Baccari as president and CEO of the Dior fashion house.
Meaning: to manage a luxury brand whose value is estimated at 382 billion euros.
This is the biggest role yet to be given to a member of the next generation of the Arnaud family, even with all 5 of Bernard's children taking key roles in the team.

"Pietro Baccari has done an exceptional job at Christian Dior over the past five years," Bernard Arnault said in a statement, "His leadership has accelerated the appeal and success of this iconic house...I am confident that Pietro will lead Louis Vuitton to the next level of success and desirability."
And about his daughter Delphine, Arnaud said in his response: "Under Delphine's leadership, the desirability of Louis Vuitton products has advanced significantly, allowing the brand to regularly set new sales records. Her sharp insights and unparalleled experience will be a crucial asset in driving the ongoing development of Christian Dior."

Both Arnaud (at Dior) and Bacary (at Louis Vuitton) will have to navigate a challenging environment in the short term.
While Arno's appointment actually marks a kind of closing of the circle - as she returns to the brand where she first worked in 2001, where she began working on shoes directly opposite Dior's creative director at the time, John Galliano, and before advancing to become deputy general manager at the corporation.
The management changes at LVMH will take effect on February 1st.
