"On the night of 2 January 2023, at New York Jfk airport, the Ita Airways aircraft, which was operating flight AZ610 from Rome Fiumicino, during taxiing, hit the stabilizer of another aircraft with the right wing tip aircraft. The Ita Airways aircraft returned to Fiumicino in these hours".
This can be read in a note from Ita in which the company communicates "that it has activated internal procedures to reconstruct the circumstances, promptly informing the responsible aeronautical authorities to which it will continue to provide total collaboration with maximum transparency. Ita Airways confirms that it always operates in the compliance with all the requirements dictated by the competent authorities, to guarantee the required safety standards. Additional precautionary measures have been implemented by the company, with a view to continuous improvement of safety standards.
Collisions in the taxiing phases, in particular on very congested airports like JFK, are a growing phenomenon and constantly under the attention of the aviation authorities".
