For the first time, video referee assistance (VAR) will be used in the play-off round of the Conference League round of 16 and in all subsequent matches up to the final.
This was announced by UEFA, which has kept its promise made last season to implement the use of technology in the third continental club tournament, which in the 2021/22 edition, won by Roma, saw the introduction of the Var only starting with the semifinals.
The play-offs for the knockout phase will be played on 16 and 23 February next and involve two Italian teams, Lazio and Fiorentina, who will face respectively the Romanians of Cluj and the Portuguese of Braga.
The winners will advance to the round of 16, where they will join the eight winners of the groups concluded last November.
The 2022/23 Conference League final will take place on 7 June at the Eden Arena in Prague.
