China stopped reporting Covid cases and deaths when the World Health Organization renewed its request for further elements for a more precise picture of the situation.
The country last published updates on Covid was on Monday: about 15,000 new infections and three deaths recorded on Sunday 8 January.
In an official notification, health officials in Beijing said in December that China would switch to monthly reports as part of the virus management downgrade from 'Disease A' to 'Disease B', without providing a specific date for the change.
