Princess Diana's iconic dress will be auctioned at Sotheby's on January 27.
The price of the rare dress is estimated at 80-120 thousand dollars.

The dress is a purple velvet strapless dress by designer Victor Edelstein, which was part of his Fall 1989 collection.
The upper part of the dress is designed as a bodice with a heart opening, and in the chest area there are twists and contractions of the fabric, which create a tight cut.
The skirt is designed in a tulip cut, and is full of fabric.

The princess wore Edelstein's dress on various occasions in 1991.
The first time in a photograph of Princess Margaret's ex-husband, Lord Snowdon and the second time in a painting by the British artist Douglas Harding Anderson, which hangs in the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
The third time the princess wore the magnificent dress was in her last official photo shoot before her death in 1997.
The dress appears in the "Vanity Fair" magazine in an article about her life after the divorce.

The last time the dress was up for sale was at an auction in 1997 for the benefit of two charities, and was then sold together with 79 other items.
She brought in 24,150 dollars during that period, which today equals an amount of about 44,800 thousand dollars.
