The fashion world mourns Tatjana Patitz, who died on Wednesday January 11, at the age of 56.
Symbol of these vibrant 90s, the "calmest" of supermodels started the decade with a remarkable appearance in George Michael's clip,
Freedom!
'90
, directed by David Fincher.
She is filmed there alongside other superstar models of the time such as Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell, who each do playback on the lyrics of the title, an ode to freedom and music.

Tatjana Patitz says the British singer was one of her early teenage crushes but didn't get to meet him while filming: 'I was in my own zone,' she recalls so with the
New York Times
in 2016. I had to slide up and down the wall for part of the day.
The atmosphere on set was so run down, that big loft vibe.
There was another take where I was lying on a lounge chair with a black tuxedo jacket.
I think maybe I had a bustier.
And I even smoked.
People were still smoking in the videos at that time and also in the movies,” she notes again.
The song
Freedom!
'90
is taken from the ex-
Wham
member's album
Listen Without Prejudice
.
It was George Michael
himself
who chose Tatjana Patitz at the time for his video, having initially spotted her in the English version of
Vogue
in 1990, after a shoot with photographer Peter Lindbergh.
The young woman had previously appeared in other musical films, such as
Skin Trade
by Duran Duran or
Tell Me
by Nick Kamen.
In 1991, the Italian brand Versace opened its fashion show on
Freedom!
'90
, with the same models from the clip.
Tatjana Papitz leaves behind a 19-year-old son, Jonah.
