Former Zambian football star Philemon Mulala was attacked by his own dogs and injured so badly that he died.
This is reported by several media, citing the police.
Accordingly, Mulala's wife found the 60-year-old lifeless in the garden of their home in South Africa.
Before that, the power went out and she wasn't surprised that the dogs barked outside.
The police spokesman said this happened frequently.
Only when she couldn't find her husband in the house did she look in the garden.

There she found bite marks on Mulala's body.
According to the reports, the rescue workers who were called could do nothing more for the Zambian national hero.
He was pronounced dead on the spot.
A local animal welfare organization then brought the three dogs to an animal shelter, the spokesman said.
Why the fighting dogs attacked their owners is now being determined.
According to football media ESPN, Mulala was at the peak of his career in the 1980s.
He belonged to the golden generation of Zambian national team players ("Chipolopolo"), who won their first title for Zambia at the African CECAFA Cup.
Mulala scored two decisive goals in the semi-final against Kenya to reach the final.
