A young man fought a duel with a startled wild boar in Barsinghausen, near Hanover.

A video shows what was going on.

Last weekend, a herd of wild boar made the Lower Saxony town of Barsinghausen unsafe.

The mother animal was probably startled with her offspring in the forest, so that they panicked and fled in the direction of the city to hide somewhere.

There they wandered around without orientation and ended up in different gardens.

But a young animal was probably separated from the group, got lost and ended up in the underpass of the S-Bahn station.

Here it was caught and held by a 27-year-old man.

This shows a curious video on TikTok.

It received more than 211,000 likes in a very short time.

Some passers-by are worried and ask the man to let go of the frightened animal.

But he keeps holding on.

However, that should be avoided as far as possible, says Barsinghausen's head of conservation, Wolfram Klöber, to the

editorial network Germany (RND)

: "If the animals are stressed and someone comes between a mother animal and the offspring, it can be very dangerous."

Even the city hunter Heinz Pyka is anything but enthusiastic about the campaign.

He is quoted by

RND

: "There can't be that much stupidity to mess with a wild boar." Rather, the authorities advise that anyone who sees wild boars should inform the police immediately.

It is also good to know how to behave properly when wild boar are sighted.

The young man in the video may have had more luck than brains.

According to the experts, this is not an adult pig.

In addition, it tries to flee rather than attack.

According to the police, the gang left the city in the evening and found their way back into the forest.

In the numerous comments, there is a heated discussion as to why the man did not let go.

There is also talk of rabies.

But Heinz Pyka denies this.

He told

RTL

: “The fact that rabies was involved is absolute nonsense.

Germany is rabies-free, I haven't heard of a single case for years, and if that were really the case, the veterinary office would have sounded the alarm immediately."
