Anne Will announced the end of her program of the same name on ARD.

The 56-year-old wants to devote herself to new projects, about which she is already in discussion with the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR).

The Sunday evening after the "crime scene" - could there be a more coveted slot on German television?

So it's no wonder that TV viewers are interested to see who will be Anne Will's successor after she has announced the end of her show after 16 years.

It was the same in 2006, when Sabine Christiansen announced that she wanted to end her show soon.

"Sabine Christiansen" was

the

political talk show at the time.

Every Sunday at 9:45 p.m. on ARD for almost ten years.

In January 1998, Christiansen went on the air for the first time, 447 episodes later, on June 24, 2007, she moderated the sometimes loud discussions of her guests for the last time.

And who followed?

For a long time it was said: Günther Jauch.

But that didn't happen (at first).

After Jauch had refused, the directors of ARD chose Anne Will to succeed Sabine Christiansen. "Anne Will" went on the air on September 16, 2007.

The then 41-year-old was well known to the public: from November 1999, the journalist (before her traineeship: studied history, political science, English) was the first woman to present the “Sportschau”, in 2000 she moderated the ARD sports broadcasts of the Olympic Games from Sydney.

As Gabi Bauer's successor, Will earned the coveted job of presenter of "Tagesthemen": From April 2001 she was seen alternately with Ulrich Wickert, and from 2006 alternately with his successor Tom Buhrow.

When she started her own talk show, Caren Miosga took over.

Günther Jauch ousted Anne Will from the late Sunday evening place

Until 2011. Then Günther Jauch was there again.

He received the Sunday evening slot and moderated from September 11, 2011 for more than four years after the "crime scene", now the program was called: "Günther Jauch".

Will was relegated to the unwelcome late Wednesday night at 10:45 p.m.

It was not until 2015, when Jauch did not extend his expiring contract, that Will was allowed to play again on Sundays.

And that too will soon come to an end.
