Aldi Süd has a possible solution for this.

Many supermarkets and discounters have taken up the cause when you look at the latest developments in the food industry.
Aldi Süd now wants to make shopping easier for customers in particular.

Aldi Süd wants to generate the “best possible shopping experience” for customers.
Above all, the checkout process should be faster and more flexible in the future.
The discounter is now introducing extended checkout concepts for this, as RUHR24 reports.
In concrete terms, this means the gradual equipping of the branches with self-checkout registers and registers with a double goods chute.
Customers are already familiar with the self-service checkouts from other shops, such as Ikea or Hornbach.
The discounter competition Lidl is already testing the self-checkout tills.
With self-service checkouts, customers can scan and pay for their goods themselves.
Long queues could be avoided in this way.
Aldi Süd introduces new double checkouts: customers should have more time to pack up
The new double cash registers are extended cash registers that are equipped with an additional goods shaft.
According to Aldi, while a customer is still paying for their purchase at one of these checkouts with their EC card, another customer can already start entering their purchase.
The double cash registers then also contain two separate card readers and receipt printers.

Anyone who prefers personal contact with employees when shopping can continue to use the usual cash registers.
However, according to Aldi Süd, faster and independent payment processes are particularly useful in Aldi branches near a school or office building.
