Chilean Ignacio Cornejo, on Honda, won the 12th final stage of the marathon in the Rub Al-Khali desert, in Saudi Arabia, on the border with Oman.
The bike race was once again very heated, with the Honda rider ahead of the Australian Daniel Sanders (GasGas) by only 49" and the other Australian Toby Price (KTM) by 1'58" after 376 kilometers , paths partly between high dunes.
The American Skyler Howes (Husqvarna) lost 2'54", but also lost first place in the provisional general classification.
With two stages to go from Sunday's finish in Dammam, Price took control of the race.
Starting from third place, today he managed to always finish in third place, but he rose to the lead thanks to the bonuses collected along the stage: he is now followed 28" by Howes. The Argentine Kevin Benavides (KTM) remains lurking at 2 '40".
The 45th edition of the Rally-raid started on 31 December 2022 from the shores of the Red Sea, near Yanbu, for a two-week challenge and more than 8,000 kilometres.
