Djamel Tatah, contemporary painter of the human condition

OUR BACK-TO-SCHOOL FIGURES - Strongly marked by the Italian Renaissance and by Zurbaran, the artist born in the Loire exhibits in Paris, Galerie Jérôme Poggi.


There is a particular peace in the paintings of Djamel Tatah, painter of reserve, of distance with emotion, of the symbolic gesture which sums up the relationship to the world, its violence, its destiny.

These gestures are fragments of characters that refer to the history of painting: Piero della Francesca and the Renaissance masters

While the Fabre Museum in Montpellier, dear to Soulages, famously celebrates him, it exhibits at the Jérôme Poggi gallery a dozen contemplative, figurative and forbidden canvases, often on a bluish white background like a fresco, whose mortuary pallor has something mother-of-pearl of the shell.
