(ANSA) - LONDON, JAN 13 - The computer incident that occurred in Royal Mail systems, which blocked the sending of letters and parcels abroad by the British post, would have been a cyberattack linked to Russian criminals.
The BBC reports it according to which it is a 'ransomware' type operation, with a ransom request, carried out using a software called Lockbit.
The request should be in the millions and if they are not paid there is a risk of data loss and theft, although sources close to the investigation say there are "workarounds" to restart the systems.
The National Cyber Security Centre, which is part of the British digital espionage and counterintelligence agency GCHQ, has also been involved since the attack.
