Louis Vuitton punctuates its creations with polka dots by artist Yayoi Kusama

Since 2012, the star Japanese artist has forged ties with Louis Vuitton. This year, a new collaboration celebrates their relationship.


An avant-garde visual artist, known worldwide for her endless repetitive use of polka dots, Yayoi Kusama was invited in 2012 to reinvent the different worlds of Louis Vuitton.

This included exhibitions, products as well as unique installations in LV store windows, displaying, among other things, an astonishingly realistic mannequin representing the artist.

Ten years later, the Parisian house continues its desire to illuminate its contemporary art creations by presenting a new successful collaboration, even more extensive, with the renowned artist.

To celebrate this colorful anniversary, a first chapter has just been unveiled by Louis Vuitton, where all the universes are revisited – leather goods, men's and women's ready-to-wear, perfumes, accessories… –, while waiting a second wave in March.

The pop art queen's obsessive stitches reign supreme.

Some, as if painted by hand in the artist's signature chromatic combinations, proliferate on the famous Monogram canvas, others, more futuristic, in the shape of small silver globes fixed on dark leathers, are represented on emblematic bags. of the house, but also on new models.

Each of these dots was supervised by Kusama himself, placed with precision, to the nearest millimeter;

each brushstroke has been suggested in detail to faithfully transcribe its texture and thickness.

The 93-year-old artist has been painting these famous Infinity Dots since the age of 10.
