Marie Darrieussecq: “I read six to seven hours a day”

The author of Not sleeping is this year the godmother of the second edition of the Nights of Reading, which are held from January 19 to 22. On the program: fear in literature.


For the second year, the National Book Center is organizing Reading Nights, four evening events in France and abroad.

Because in my perpetual insomnia, I have tried everything, as I say in

Not Sleeping

, and reading is what works best for me… I am a bulimic reader – I read six to seven hours a day –, I think you can't write without having read a lot, and I'm also a great advocate of reading for its benefits.

By reading, we activate areas of the brain very similar to those that we activate when we do meditation.

It helps to come out of oneself, to symbolize, to win...
