Wikipedia turns 22 and in 100 years it could bring together all human knowledge.

Going online for the first time on January 14, 2001, there are 23 million entries in the web encyclopedia.

Considering that 120 million would be needed to map all human knowledge, to date, almost 20% is freely available online.

A percentage which, current rates being confirmed, could reach 100% in 100 years.

"Wikipedia's birthday is an opportunity to thank every year all the volunteers who support free knowledge and contribute their knowledge and energy to this site, to all Wikimedia projects and to OpenStreetMap. In 2001, no one would have ever imagined that Wikipedia would become 22 years later a tool so important as to generate traffic on the platform equal to 1,

"Today there are almost 300,000 active volunteers every month, in over 300 language versions, for a flow of 345 changes per minute".

The Italian-language Wikipedia community is made up of over 2 million registered users active in the creation and extension of entries and in the revision process, while managing "vandalism" activities aimed at introducing intentionally incorrect and piloted notions.

On Wikipedia in Italian today there are 1.8 million entries, of which 81% are also present in other languages.

In fact, each linguistic edition has between 10% and 35% of exclusive entries, which can be defined as "unique knowledge" by sharing the remaining percentage with other linguistic editions.

From an analysis by Alessio Melandri, Wikipedia volunteer and member of Wikimedia Italia,
