Several bizarre DHL notes raise questions.
A myth is promptly discussed: are messengers really only allowed to use black pencils?
The company explains.
Munich - The Internet is teeming with unusual parcel notification slips.
Sometimes a garden gnome is beheaded, sometimes neighbors cause a scandal when the wine is delivered.
And again and again it gets cryptic or the show ends up where it has absolutely nothing to do.
How real are the notes?
This is usually difficult to determine, even if authenticity can be assumed in most cases.
Especially with the animal-loving courier who left a warning for cat owners.
DHL notes end up on Reddit: are they really real?
At the beginning of 2023, several supposed DHL notes on Reddit caused a stir, posted by different accounts.
"Package in the blue garbage can" can be read on one along with a smiley and "greetings".
The other reads: "Guess where", also with a smiley and the addition "Good luck, your mail".
Both reap a four-digit number of reactions via upvotes and downvotes and dozens of comments.
As well as a lot of doubts.
Real or fake?
The user says he found this note on the mailboxes.
DHL: Can messengers really only use black pens?
Because not only the words themselves make skeptical.
Some people think that seems pretty made up.
And both threads are promptly declared as "Contains false reports".
And one piece of evidence cited in both cases is arguably based on a common myth.
"Fake.
DHL only allows black pens," writes one for more than 1,000 likes.
"It's fake, Deutsche Post only allows black pens" another user to the other note for also more than 700 likes.
"My mom works at the post office and can confirm that," adds one.
Others express themselves differently.
“Well, I work as a postman myself and also deliver small-format parcels.
Basically, we get black pens, but these are not mandatory everywhere.
Such an obligation only applies to internal documents (because fax) and yellow letters and the associated notice of delivery.
I've also worked with a blue pen myself, because my team leader forgot to order new postal pens." Another says: "Association colleague here.
Would never use a blue one lest I accidentally write and rewrite a certificate in blue.”
The finder asserted that this DHL note was also genuine.

DHL clarifies: Pens of all kinds are allowed on notification cards
With so much disagreement, only one thing helps: DHL itself must clarify!
When
asked by tz.de
, a spokesman then explains what is really going on.
"The rule that the color of the pen must be black used to apply to postal delivery documents, but not to notification cards." Means: Blue pens are basically okay for DHL notification cards.
And what about the two from Reddit?
"We cannot prove whether the notifications are fake or not," said the DHL spokesman.
In any case, handwritten notes on the DHL slips of paper are a thing of the past.
“Today, delivery people usually use mobile printers and stick the printed labels onto the cards.
There are therefore only a few handwritten additions.”
Incidentally, the Reddit user with the “Guess where” note denies the suspicion of having falsified the DHL note.
He found this on the mailboxes.
"I assume another renter in my house received a blank note from DHL and satirically communicated their dissatisfaction with the rest of the condominium with a pen."
The user with the other piece of paper also reacted to the allegations of forgery.
"It was in the mailbox and the package was in the bin, I don't give a damn whether I believe the internet unknown or not." He even asked the "DHL yodel who delivers to me, and according to him it doesn't matter which pen he uses.” The company has now confirmed this and dispelled the myth.
Also on Reddit, a "mystery shopper" unpacked - these are the customers in the supermarket that hardly anyone knows about.
