The series promises to unveil "a lot of details" about Eminem's life and show young people what the rapper has brought to the music world since his debut in 1988.

8 Mile

lands on the small screen.

To everyone's surprise, on January 6, rapper 50 Cent told Big Boy TV that he wanted to "

bring

'

8 Mile

'

to TV."

The drama, directed in 2002 by Curtis Hanson, told the story of Jimmy Smith Jr., a Detroit teenager who dreamed of making a name for himself in the local hip-hop scene, at a time when this musical genre was dominated by the African Americans.

Eminem, whose life had greatly inspired the screenplay, held the lead role.

Twenty years later, a series adaptation is underway.

"We're on and it's going to be huge,"

added 50 Cent.

After this announcement, he published a Billboard article on his Instagram account, with the caption:

"Yeah and you thought I was bluffing, I'm so serious man!

It's going to be crazy."

50 Cent wants to "

offer

a lot of the details, things that Eminem would have said in interviews

."

The series should reveal new elements on the difficult childhood of the interpreter of Slim Shady, whose father was absent.

His debut in the world of rap, in 1988, will also be exploited.

The goal of the series is to ensure

"his legacy"

and to show

"younger generations"

what he has brought to the music world over the past thirty years, 50 Cent said.

The original film,

8 Mile,

is named after the road that separates the mostly black city of Detroit from the mostly white northern suburbs.

When it was released in 2002, it was a worldwide success, bringing in over $240 million in revenue, for an estimated budget of $41 million.

But the drama above all allowed Eminem to receive the Oscar for best original song for

Lose Yourself

, which has become one of his most famous titles, as well as two grammys.

The rapper, at the time aged thirty, then became the first hip-hop artist to receive an Academy Award.
