At the moment you can hardly get past Pedro Pascal.

Whether on the big screen or in the most popular series, the Chilean native seems to have a knack for choosing roles.

As The Last of Us launches, we take a look back at his career so far.

As Joel Miller, Pedro Pascal can be seen worldwide in the post-apocalyptic drama series "The Last of Us" (the German-language trailer is available on Sky).

But in numerous other series and film productions, the actor has already made a name for himself in recent years.

The Chilean Pedro Balmaceda Pascal and his family fled their home country just a few months after his birth in 1975 to escape the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.

They receive political asylum in Denmark.

Shortly thereafter, the family moves to Texas, later to California.

After graduating from high school, Pedro settled in New York in 1993, where he studied acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

He took on his first role in a short film in 1996. He first appeared in front of the camera under his father's name, Balmaceda, but after his mother took her own life in 1999, he changed his stage name to Pedro Pascal in her honor, which is also easier to pronounce in English is.

1999: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The young actor took off in 1999 and was cast as a guest actor in several series.

Among them is the cult series "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer", in which he is allowed to mutate into a vampire alongside the title heroine (Sarah Michelle Gellar).
