(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 16 - Bad weather will hit Italy in the next few days due to the effects of a vast area of ​​low pressure of North Atlantic origin, already responsible for a general worsening of the weather conditions, with precipitation including thunderstorms over a large part of the Centre-South, associated with intense ventilation and local snowfalls up to hilly altitudes in the northern regions. The Civil Protection Department has issued a further warning of adverse weather conditions which supplements and extends the one issued yesterday.

The warning forecasts from today evening, Monday 16 January, scattered rainfall, mainly downpours or thunderstorms, over Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, central-western sectors of Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, over Campania and Basilicata and over Calabria , especially on the northern sectors.

The phenomena will be accompanied by showers of strong intensity, frequent electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.

Furthermore, we note the persistence of strong to stormy winds, from the western quadrants, on Sardinia, Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, with reinforcements up to strong storms along the mountainous reliefs and locally on the coastal sectors and strong storm surges along the exposed coasts.


    Finally, from tomorrow morning, Tuesday 17 January, snowfalls are expected at altitudes above 300-500 meters in Lombardy, Veneto and western Emilia-Romagna, with local trespassing up to lowland altitudes and with generally weak, locally moderate contributions to the ground at higher altitudes.

The orange alert in Campania, north-western Calabria, a large part of Molise and south-western Basilicata has been evaluated for tomorrow, Tuesday 17 January.

Yellow alert on Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, western Sardinia, and sectors of Calabria, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Marche, Molise and Puglia.
