Banks regularly send emails, for example to inform about changes.
Fraudsters are now using this – Sparkasse customers should be careful.
Kassel – Many consumers are familiar with strange e-mails in their mailbox.
Most scams are therefore widely known: Examples are the cousin who wants to transfer you one million euros but needs the account details to do so.
Many also know the grandchild in need who contacts the grandparents.
Such emails often stand out immediately as attempted fraud and are ignored by the potential victims.
But what if the bank reports itself – with a serious demeanor and an urgent request to protect itself?
The consumer advice center is currently warning against such a scam by e-mail.
Sparkasse customers in particular are affected.
Anyone who has been contacted by their bank by e-mail should therefore be more careful.

Danger for Sparkasse customers: Fraudsters use this scam to work by email
Some Sparkasse customers are currently receiving an e-mail with the subject "Important: change of login procedure".
This is justified with an alleged change in the payment guidelines, which is said to have come into force on January 1st of this year.
In order to make banking even more secure, the institute has developed a fingerprint that customers should use.
In order to create this fingerprint, a "changeover with final verification of your account" must be carried out by January 15, 2023.
If the specified deadline for verification is not met, the Sparkasse account must be temporarily closed.
This is necessary due to EU regulations.

Fraudsters write e-mails to Sparkasse customers: Danger in the mailbox
If you have received such an email, you should not respond to it.
“Under no circumstances should you follow the attached link and reveal your sensitive information.
These could otherwise be misused by criminals.
Protect yourself and your data and move this email to the spam folder unanswered," warns the consumer advice center.
Spam mails should not be deleted, instead they are best moved to the appropriate spam mail folder.
In this way, the program learns to recognize potential spam mails and begins to sort them out by itself.
If you do not receive emails but spam calls, you should block the corresponding numbers.
