Gentiloni, in the EU we can avoid a serious recession

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JAN 16 - "The figures, the numbers, the confidence indicators we are seeing tell us that in Europe we can avoid a serious recession and have a short period of contraction".

This was stated by the European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni, arriving at the Eurogroup.

    Gentiloni said he was "confident" that all the countries belonging to the European Stability Mechanism (MES) will ratify the revision of its regulation.

It is useful "for Italy to ratify a revised statute that serves all countries regardless of who will use it and who instead decides not to use it".
