Just yesterday (Sunday), the Theater Creators Forum held a conference on gender equality in the world of culture, where a whole session was held about sexual harassment in the Israeli theater, and now the issue is receiving further attention - this time from the government.
This morning (Monday), Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar signed the extension of the validity of the amendment to encourage cultural institutions to reduce sexual harassment in the fields of dance troupes, orchestras, repertory theaters, fringe groups and centers, institutions anchored in Arab culture, performing arts institutions in ultra-Orthodox culture and museums recognized by Law.

According to the amendment, the legal obligation that applies to large institutions has been expanded, so that even institutions with up to 25 employees are encouraged and obliged to establish a regulation for the prevention of sexual harassment in their field, as well as to publish it to all employees and follow it.
The amendment to this law, which was already passed last year during the tenure of Hili Trooper, is actually intended to incentivize these institutions, since if they act according to this incentive - their support will increase by about three percent.

With the current signature of the new minister, the issue continues to be important, addressed and meaningful to the Israeli cultural world.
"Women and men working in cultural institutions must feel safe from sexual harassment. We will work with all our might to reduce this despicable phenomenon," Zohar told Israel Hayom.
