As a sign of solidarity with the demonstrations in Iran, slogans of the local protest movement will be projected onto the Eiffel Tower in Paris for two days.
On Monday and Tuesday, the »Femme.
vie
Liberté.« (Woman. Life. Freedom.) and »#StopExecutionsInIran«, the city of Paris announced.
This was to pay tribute to the people of Iran who bravely fought for their freedom while the regime continued to execute protesters.
The death of the Iranian Kurd Jina Mahsa Amini in mid-September last year triggered nationwide protests in Iran.
The young woman died in police custody after being arrested by the so-called morality police for violating Islamic dress codes.
Since then there have been repeated protests against the government's repressive course and the Islamic system of rule.
According to human rights activists, at least 522 people have been killed in the protests.
Among them are 70 minors and 68 police and security forces.
In early January, the Iranian regime had two members of the protest movement executed.
The violent deaths of Mohammed Mahdi Karami and Seyyed Mohammed Hosseini had drawn heavy criticism from Western states and international organizations.
And even more demonstrators are threatened with execution.
