James Cameron can already cool the champagne, because in a few days Avatar: The Way of Water should reach the big goal of two billion dollars at the global box office.
Here are the current numbers.
"Avatar: The Way of Water" (here for criticism) also won the extended Martin Luther King Day weekend and thus reached the top spot in the US cinema charts for the fifth time in a row.
$31.1 million was raised over three days, according to Box Office Mojo (an additional $7.4 million is expected for MLK Monday).
The national total for the James Cameron flick now stands at $570.3 million (part one had almost $100 million less at the same time).
In order to make it into the all-time top 10 at the Domestic Box Office, the $623 million from “Marvel's The Avengers” would have to be surpassed (currently it's “only” enough for 13th place).
