Al Brown, the actor who played the character of Stan Welchak in the acclaimed and iconic HBO drama series "Undercover", passed away at the age of 83.

His death was confirmed by his daughter Jenny to TMZ.com, which reported that Brown died in Las Vegas last Friday after a battle with Alzheimer's.

"It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that the angels came to take El yesterday morning, Friday January 13th," a message on Brown's Facebook account read Saturday.
"His memory will be a blessing to his family, his friends and each of you."
The message also reads: "This page will be given as a testimony to El's work and the love of his fans."
Brown began his career in the acting world in the mid-1990s, after a 30-year career in the US Air Force, during which he was also stationed for two years in Vietnam.

In his 50s, he began acting in series such as "Law and Order" and appeared in several films, including "12 Monkeys" by director Terry Gilliam, alongside actors Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis.
His most memorable role is, of course, that of the American policeman Stan Welchek, which he played for five seasons of "Undercover".
