A draft law by the Brothers of Italy on the legal recognition of the unborn child appears in the Senate.
The text, deposited on January 13, is first signed by Roberto Menia and joins the other three of the center-right on the subject.
After Fi and Lega, at this point, all majority groups have a proposal on the matter.
And the opposition goes on the attack.
"After the Gasparri bill - says the senator of the Democratic Party Valeria Valente - the Menia bill arrives to recognize the legal capacity of the conceived. Evidently FdI did not want to feel outdone compared to Fi, in the attack on the freedoms and rights of women to dispose of the own body and self-determination".
The goal, highlights the president of the Dem senators, Simona Malpezzi, is "to cancel the woman's right to self-determination in the choice of becoming a mother or not".
The Menia bill is entitled: 'Modification of article 1 of the civil code regarding the recognition of legal capacity for every human being'.
Code which provides that legal capacity is acquired "at the moment of birth".
The previous Fi proposal first signed by Maurizio Gasparri and filed in October provides for the 'recognition of the legal capacity of the conceived'.
While another text presented by the leader of the Lega Massimiliano Romeo in article 3 provides, among other things, that "the conceived is recognized as a member of the family nucleus to all intents and purposes".
Alongside these, a proposal by Isabella Rauti of FdI calls for the establishment, on 25 March, of the "Day of the unborn child".
The Menia bill is "a legal monstrosity", attacks Cecilia D'Elia, Pd senator and national spokesperson for the conference of Democrats.
"The text presented - she adds - is totally incompatible with the principle of self-determination and is a clear attempt to question law 194, but they will not succeed".
