Haute joaillerie: Boucheron's farewell to the Queen


For its high jewelry collection, the Parisian house was inspired by a 1930s brooch of Elizabeth II. A tribute initiated two years ago, before the disappearance of the queen.

The timing is perfect, but unintentional.

"As with all high jewelry collections, we started working on 'Like a Queen' two years ago,"

says Claire Choisne, artistic director of Boucheron.

If our calculations are correct, the idea could even have germinated on May 8, 2020, when we commemorated Europe's victory in the Second World War.

That evening, the Queen, confined to Windsor Castle with Prince Philip, delivered an inspired speech broadcast on the BBC at 8 p.m., the exact time her father King George VI spoke on the radio in 1945. In reference to the message of the Liberation, she encourages her fellow citizens:



give up, never despair"


The sovereign then wore a sober sky blue dress, her faithful necklace with three rows of pearls and a double brooch of highly symbolic aquamarines and diamonds.

Never wearing a jewel by chance, Elizabeth II pays here a personal tribute to her father...
