(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 18 - In November, Istat estimates a 3.9% cyclical increase for Italian exports compared to October and a 1.4% decrease for imports.
On an annual basis, the increase in exports is 18% in monetary terms, while the volume figure is substantially unchanged (+0.2%).
The balance of Italy's trade balance, "negative since December 2021, returns positive in November", observes Istat.
The trade balance is positive and equal to +1,445 million euros (+2,200 million in November 2021).
The energy deficit (-8,456 million) is larger than a year earlier (-5,777 million) but the surplus in the trade of non-energy products, amounting to 9,901 million, is high and up sharply compared to November 2021 (7,976 millions).
Import prices in November decreased by 1% on a monthly basis and increased by 13.6% on an annual basis (it was +15.7 in October 2022).
Istat notes "a new cyclical decline and a further deceleration of trend growth, to which the reductions in the prices of natural gas and intermediate goods contribute".
For energy, the cyclical decline is 4.9% while on an annual basis there is an increase of 43.8%.
