The carabinieri del Ros and the Palermo prosecutor's office have
sealed the hideout of the boss Matteo Messina Denaro
.
It is in
Campobello di Mazara, in the Trapani area
, the town of the facilitator Giovanni Luppino, who ended up in handcuffs together with the mafia boss.
The house is registered to Andrea Bonafede
, the surveyor who allegedly lent his identity to the godfather.
At the moment it does not appear that there were particular documents in the building, so much so that the investigators suspect that there may be a second building in which to look for the so-called treasure of Messina Denaro.
And Andrea Bonafede would be talking to the prosecutors
: with the magistrates he would have made half-admissions saying that he had known the mafia boss since he was a boy and that he had lent himself to buy, with the godfather's money, the house where he spent the last year.
The surveyor is being investigated for mafia association.
CHEMO IN PRISON, MESSINA DENARO IN L'AQUILA
- Matteo Messina Denaro is under the 41bis regime in one of the single cells of the super prison of L'Aquila Le Costarelle.
The mafia boss is calm.
The cell, measuring just over ten square meters, is located in one of the sections of the prison which also houses the terrorist Nadia Desdemona Lioce.
Messina Denaro will begin chemotherapy in an ad hoc room inside the prison in the next few hours.
"His conditions are serious, the disease has accelerated in recent months," Vittorio Gebbia, head of medical oncology at the La Maddalena clinic, where the boss Matteo Messina Denaro was arrested, told Repubblica online.
Gebbia visited the boss, aka Andrea Bonafede, in January 2021 before a multidisciplinary surgical evaluation.
Then the mobster started chemotherapy and on May 4, 2021 he was operated on for liver metastases by a surgical team.
Gebbia says that the poor prognosis was "welcomed with great dignity" by the patient he had, "full awareness of his health conditions" and "no attitude that could arouse suspicion".

THE TOWN OF CAMPOBELLO, IL COVO
- A town of 11,000 inhabitants in the province of Trapani, Campobello is only 8 kilometers from Castelvetrano, the town of origin of Messina Denaro and his family.
The identification of the hideout and its search are fundamental stages in the reconstruction of the fugitive of the mafia boss.
And not only.
Several pentiti have said that the godfather from Trapani was the guardian of Totò Riina's treasure, top secret documents that the Corleonese boss kept in his hiding place before his arrest, made to disappear because the house, unlike now, was not searched.
"Matteo Messina Denaro
had lived here for at least six months
- so the provincial commander of the carabinieri of Trapani Fabio Bottino, after the inspection in the hideout -. An apartment, well renovated, which testifies that the economic conditions of the fugitive were good. Refined furnishings, of a certain standard, not of luxury but of appreciable economic level".
"Searchs and investigations are underway. We are detecting the presence of biological traces, any hiding places or cavities where documentation may have been hidden. A job that will take days".

THE BOSS WILL BE DEFENDED BY THE NIECE
The mafia boss of Castelvetrano, Matteo Messina Denaro, has indicated his niece, the lawyer Lorenza Guttadauro, as his trusted lawyer.
The criminal lawyer is the daughter of the boss's sister, Rosalia, and Filippo Guttadauro.
Her paternal grandfather is the historic boss of Brancaccio, Giuseppe Guttadauro.
The appointment has not yet been made official, but announced to the professional.
Matteo Messina Denaro as a fugitive did not have trusted lawyers, but was assisted by public defenders.
The first procedural 'commitment' of the Castelvetrano mafia boss is expected in two days: on 19 January, in fact, a hearing will be held in the bunker hall of Caltanissetta in which he is accused of the mafia massacres of '92, of Capaci and Via D 'Amelio.
If the criminal lawyer should also receive the assignment for that proceeding, the
