Huge news for the residents of Tiberias and the entire north:
the North Regional Planning and Construction Committee announced today (Thursday) its decision to entrust the plan for the expansion of the Baruch Feda Medical Center - "Poriya", in the Jordan Valley Regional Council and near the city of Tiberias.
The purpose of the plan is to expand the medical center and adapt it for the future needs of the hospital in accordance with the expected population target in 2045.
The meaning is: the plan will allow the expansion of the hospital's capacity from 320 beds today, to about 800 beds, the construction of 24 housing units for faculty residences and 47 accommodation units in the hotel, the expansion of the hospital area from - 175 dunams today, when the built area is about 45,500 square meters, to about 220 dunams as well as an additional construction of 355 thousand square meters.

Furthermore, the plan submitted by the Ministry of Health and the Israel Lands Authority will enable the development and establishment of various advanced centers, including: a center for internal medicine and the treatment of cancer patients, a center for obstetrics and gynecology, a surgery center, a heart center, a rehabilitation center, a brain center, a rehabilitation center , as well as a center for basic research for experimental surgery, for advanced technologies, for innovation and start-up companies in the fields of medicine.
Also, the program includes research laboratories, conference and lecture halls, public buildings including educational buildings, and more.
Access to the hospital today is from road 768, which already suffers from heavy traffic.
The plan offers transportation solutions that include creating an additional entrance to the hospital from the south, widening the regional road to a width of 40 m, as well as improving the public transportation system in the area including the establishment of a public transportation terminal that will improve accessibility to the hospital.

"The plan to expand the hospital and turn it into a medical center is one of the most important moves to strengthen the residents of the north and empower the entire region. The plan will make it possible to improve the level of health services in the region and provide hundreds of quality jobs."
