Some 5,200 people arrested in Tehran province during anti-government demonstrations that began in September have been released from prison.
This was stated by the spokesman for the Iranian Judiciary Massoud Setayeshi, quoted by the Persian-language TV based in London 'Iran international', adding that it is equivalent to over 98% of the protesters arrested in the capital and "it seems that the same is also in the rest of the country ".
The official did not provide the total number of arrests for the protests while according to the agency of Iranian human rights activists Hrana, more than 19,500 protesters have been jailed since September.
