Macu Mazzuca in Pinamar: "People are very angry with politicians, no one goes to Punta del Este anymore"

2023-01-19T09:35:24.917Z

The announcer talks about his career doing radio in season from Pinamar, the tour of politicians on the coast and his perspective on the future of the media.

The conductor and broadcaster

Guillermo "Macu" Mazzuca

(62), Marcelo Tinelli's schoolmate and whom Juan Alberto Badía opened the doors to television for the first time, returned to do a radio season in Pinamar this summer.

"I never saw so much police," he tells

Clarín

and gives his opinion about the politicians' tour of the beach and his vision of the new scenario for journalists in the Twitch era.

The Sol operation of the Buenos Aires Province Police assigned 1,600 agents to the security of Pinamar, double the number of the previous summer, that is, January 2022, and more than the average that was between 600 and 800 heads.

“Yesterday I went to have a drink in a hostel and there were policemen as if it were the custody of a politician.

I never saw anything like that, but do you know what happens?

Pinamar is a great sounding board that can rebound throughout the country and the officials know that”, explains Mazzuca, who began doing radio in this resort since '95, in the midst of the golden age of “champagne politics”. and today it shines from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at

Estación Marina

FM 101.9.

The municipality was more than a stopover for politicians, who at that time spent the summer and took the opportunity to capture the attention of the magazine cameras.

"It was a classic, but after Cabezas it cooled off," the journalist clarified, referring to the murder of the photographer for the magazine

Noticias

José Luis Cabezas, on January 25, 1997.

"I have never seen so many police in Pinamar as this year," says Macu Mazzuca.

Many years have passed in which politicians "did not come" to Pinamar, continues Mazzuca, detailing that now he interprets it differently: "They no longer come especially to Pinamar, but as part of a tour that today is Pinamar, tomorrow is Villa Gesell and the day after Sea of the Silver”.

There was also a change in the way they give notes or show up on the beaches, says the announcer.

“The politician already has enough privilege with respect to the people, so if he shows them apart or flaunts something, bye, he dies.

Because people are very angry with politicians, be it with Macri, Cristina, Milei or with Massa.

Notice that no one is going to Punta del Este today.

Neither the government nor the opposition.

–Pinamar has a different attraction, right?

–Obviously, politicians are more interested in Pinamar than Villa Gesell.

I think it's because he has more appeal and that he's an ABC1 (high and medium-high social stratum).

It's like being closer to a social type that out there is more in line with Together for Change.

Now Cristian Ritondo (PRO-JxC), Roberto Moritán (United Republicans-JxC), Sergio Massa (Minister of Economy, Peronism) and Horacio Rodríguez Larreta came, who was received by the mayor, Martín Yeza.

–Rodríguez Larreta took a photo in the sea that went viral, where he is seen in a borer and the head of the instructor who was holding it was very small.

How much is the photo worth today compared to what really happens?

-Larreta is screwing up a lot.

He also appeared in the photo crossing the street as on the cover of the Beatles' Abbey Road album (the photo was with Senator Martín Lousteau, the governor of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales, and the civil servant Diego Santilli).

For me, everything that remains in the networks and is put together like this is a piece of paper.

But to be frank, both the politician and the adviser have to do with it, who, as long as he appears everywhere, does anything.

The good politician has to look at those details more than any other.

Because it is understood that the Coast in summer and Pinamar in particular is a must in an election year, but also not to do anything.

"My children are the most important thing to me," says the announcer Macu Mazzuca.

What is it like doing journalism in the summer?

–I really like interviewing politicians, but I didn't talk to Massa, I did it to (the liberal Javier) Milei by phone and Moritán called me from the road to visit me.

I am super open to interviewing everyone as long as they are open to the questions I ask.

If they want to say only what they have on the agenda, no.

In January, you also have to be very attentive to the fact that people are more rested and want more service, to know how the beach is or how much things are worth.

That's journalism too and I love it.

–How is the media scene here, in Pinamar?

-A little lost.

There are many illegal radio stations here, others that broadcast throughout Buenos Aires and other local ones, such as

Estación Marina

, which is a cool radio station, very classic from here.

In Pinamar, there are five or six radios that are good, but the important thing is something else.

Because radio and television alone no longer exist.

–Because of the rise of the podcast and the networks?

I'll give you an example.

We wrote a note to the artist Milo Locket on the radio and a lot of people heard it.

Now, that same note posted on Instagram is reproduced by 30,000 more people.

So the radio itself is a first step to something bigger.

That's how I'm seeing it.

My dream now is, while I'm doing the note on the radio, to do a live on Instagram.

The issue is that many times the person I want to interview does not have two lines, one for Instagram and the other for the phone.

But that will multiply a lot.

–You have more than 18 thousand followers on Instagram (@mazzucamacu), is it a means to multiply or a means in itself?

–I am giving it a lot of importance and I have a cycle of interviews with

Bagó

that I do exclusively on Instagram.

What happens in general is that when I do a live I have about 600 people there, but then you post it and over the days 20,000 see it.

That if you can do it with live radio, it is essential to expand.

–Would you switch 100 percent to a new platform like Twitch?

–And if you look at the case of Ibai, Kun Agüero or, put it, Nicolás Occhiato, with

Luzzu TV

, you realize that he is going there.

Besides, some traditional journalism figures are already moving to that format, like Fantino or Leuco, who from what I read is leaving Telenoche to do that.

For me the closest thing is the Instagram Lives, but you have to have a lot of followers to go completely overboard.

In that sense, I was very surprised by television, that I was on

A24

last summer, and that it added many followers and gave me a lot of popularity, always clear when one also works with social networks for that to happen.

Mazzuca has just had lunch at the Innsbruck restaurant, which is like his “Pinamar office”.

Later, she will record the radio program “La barra de Macu”, which she has on

Eco Medios

all year from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. ”-, his three great loves, after the radio and -why not- the summer.

Pinamar.
