Foot games, clever games.
Holding an armchair funny on the ground has always been a challenge for Starck.
There was a first version of the Pat Conley, the number one, also in black lacquered structure and scoubidou seat.
But he was so uncomfortable, with his bar sawing through his back, that the designer redesigned a small backrest for him.
It is offered at 8,000 euros, i.e. 2,000 euros less than the first original version, which is rarer (Ketabi-Bourdet).
2. Dr Sonderbar armchair, circa 1983, with its XO publisher logo
Starck spent his childhood under the drawing boards of his father, an aeronautical designer, hence his taste for cutting-edge materials and futuristic shapes.
In stainless chrome metal, this armchair (perhaps edited for a few thousand) responds to the idea that
"the fourth foot is redundancy",
according to the designer.
The tripod creates an interesting tension that asks its user…
