Fed up standing in line at the deposit machine for hours?

Not with the XXL deposit machine, which can sort 100 bottles at once.

It is being tested in more and more supermarkets.

Munich – Long queues in front of the deposit machine could soon be a thing of the past.

The revolution is called "Tomra R1" and can take back up to 100 plastic bottles and cans at the same time.

The deposit machine is slowly finding its way into supermarkets and discounters.

Aldi Nord announced that it would test the machine in selected branches by the summer.

Kaufland has been testing the product for months.

Rewe and Netto are already experimenting with the machine.

The customers are delighted.

Aldi: New XXL deposit machine makes customers' hearts beat faster

Just a few days before Christmas (December 22), Aldi Nord announced that it would be testing the “Tomra R1” reverse vending machine in Hattingen.

The machine is already in operation in two other branches, as Aldi Nord announced on Twitter.

According to the manufacturer, the return process should be up to five times faster due to the simultaneous sale of 100 bottles.

Another advantage: You don't have to touch any sticky bottles, so you get out clean.

Shut the flap and go: We are currently testing the Tomra R1 reverse vending machine in 3 ALDI stores.

The large drum holds up to 100 PET bottles & cans at the same time.

Advantage for our customers: Returning the deposit is faster and easier and your hands stay clean.

In the comments under the Aldi post, the joy of the new helper prevails.

"Wow, what an innovation," wrote one user.

"I think it's a great idea," said another.

"Cool, I don't mind if we do the same.

We regularly have so many deposits that this machine would definitely be a relief," said one user in the comments.

Some Twitter users want the XXL deposit machines everywhere.

"Finally no longer waiting so long for the person in front of me to take away their three garbage bags full of returnable bottles.

All of Germany needs that!” says one user happily.

Aldi, Rewe and Edeka: Some branches are testing the giant deposit machine

The Tomra manufacturer posted other supermarkets in which the machine is being tested on Facebook.

The chosen ones include a Rewe branch in Waibstadt, a Netto branch in Duisburg and an Edeka branch in Adelsdorf.

The machine even made it to the Deichbrand Festival and was tried out there in an Aldi festival store.

Aldi announced that it would test the machines until July 2023.
