Elly Schlein, candidate for Pd secretary, said this on the sidelines of the public meeting in Naples.
"These days I see a desire to participate not only in the search for a leader, but to put a little of one's own competence, time and energy into building a new Democratic Party and to build a party that listens more to the base. We don't need a party of elected officials or a party of currents, we need a party that really belongs to its community and that knows how to listen to it on some fundamental choices, without fear of consulting it".
Elly Schlein, candidate for the secretariat of the Democratic Party, said in Naples "From this point of view - she said - the bridge we are seeing is between a piece of militants from the base of the party who want redemption and return to being proud of the symbol which have in their flag, a part of people who had moved away in recent years because they were disappointed by some choices,
and a part that faces for the first time, many young people, worlds of associations, cultures, trade unions.
I know that a part of the management group has preferred to make other choices, that's okay, it's a congress and it's done on purpose.
I like it when we discuss ideas and political lines, I'm certainly not one who is offering places, at most I'm offering a new place to rebuild together to make us all feel at home again".
