The hearing for the review of the pre-trial detention of Niccolò Figà-Talamanca, the head of the NGO 'No Peace Without Justice' in prison since 9 December as part of the Qatargate maxi-investigation, will be held on Thursday 26 January at the Palais de Justice in Brussels, barring last-minute agenda changes.
This is what we learn from his lawyer, Barbara Huylebroek.
The Belgian justice will have to decide whether to extend the detention of Figà-Talamanca or to arrange alternative measures for him.
"The most important thing now is that we can go before the council chamber and explain," noted Huylebroek.
Also on Thursday 26, the extension of preventive custody for Francesco Giorgi, former MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri's right-hand man and companion of the
former Vice-President of the European Parliament Eva Kaili.
The date of Giorgi's hearing was communicated by the Belgian federal prosecutor last week, following a postponement.
