The collective protests against
"the pillorying"
of the actor of
Amandiers
, Sofiane Bennacer.
Presented in Cannes in May 2022, released in cinemas on November 16, the film directed by Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi was a hit at first before being tarnished by the reputation of its main actor: Sofiane Bennacer.
The young actor is accused by several young women of having sexually assaulted them.
The forum recalls that it is up to justice and to it alone to condemn a man for his acts, however despicable they may be.
Denouncing, thereby, the media court which followed the revelations made by the newspaper
Liberation
and
Le Parisien
from November 22.
The appeal accuses the media and public opinion of having flouted the main legal principles, in particular those of the code of criminal procedure.

Respect for the presumption of innocence,
which stipulates that an accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty after a fair trial;
respect for the secrecy of the investigation, guarantee of the future serenity of the debates;
requirement of a contradictory debate with equal respect for the rights of the defense and those of the prosecution;
principle according to which the doubt must benefit the accused, in order to protect himself as much as possible from miscarriage of justice;
individualization of penalties – if there must be a penalty”

According to them, all these main principles were not respected by public opinion, which was quick to designate Sofiane Bennacer guilty and Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi accomplice.
They warn:
“The defense of women is too serious a matter to be left in the hands of an activist doxa – relayed by a media sphere obsessed with buzz effects.”
And explain that the ideals and struggles for equality and justice for all must be implemented without undermining our gains, which are not negotiable.
