An evaluation shows which four-legged friends are particularly in demand in Germany.
Mixed breed dogs are not only considered to be particularly intelligent, they are also among the most sought-after dogs in this country.
This is confirmed by an evaluation by the animal protection organization

The association has now announced the new registrations for the year 2022: "Again, with a large gap to all the following places, the mixed breed is at the top with 106,202 registrations."

Labrador comes out on top
A few dog breeds follow on the popularity scale, which should not cause any surprises: "In places 2 to 8 follow - by the way unchanged for four years - Labrador Retriever (21,239), German Shepherd (11,995), French Bulldog (10,723), Chihuahua (10,022 ), Australian Shepherd (7,855), Golden Retriever (7,619) and Jack Russell Terrier (5,643),” Tasso said in the statement

According to the ranking, however, there has been a change: "Havanese and Border Collie were replaced in 9th and 10th place by Yorkshire Terriers (4,421) and Maltese (4,416)."
Good conditions of the grower are crucial
From an animal welfare point of view, Tasso
welcomes
“a wide variety” of dog breeds and takes a critical look at it when “hype about individual breeds” arises, the association said at the same time.
Unfortunately, this often promotes the illegal puppy trade.
According to the statement, Tasso director Philip McCreight explains: "If the demand for individual breeds suddenly increases massively, serious breeders can hardly meet the demand.
That opens the door to criminals.
They sell too young and often sick puppies from dubious breeders who often work abroad.”

Adopt a dog from an animal shelter
The animal welfare organization advises people who have decided to adopt a dog to look for a new companion in animal welfare as a first step.
