(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 21 - The Italian tourists who were stranded in Machu Picchu due to the suspension of the railway connections to Cusco are returning to the Peruvian city where they will arrive in the evening (local time).
The Farnesina made it known.
ANSA has learned from a source familiar with the matter that in order to leave the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, the group of Italians had to wait for the partial repair of a section of railroad tracks towards Cusco.
So, after a short train ride on the restored railway route, they had to walk on a country lane to a place where they found a bus that would take them to the city.
If no last minute problems arise, the group will spend the night in Cusco and then return to Italy.
