Near tragedy in Kenya for a group of Italian tourists.
The Italians on holiday in Watamu, who were feared involved in the sinking of a boat for excursions with 40 people on board which took place this morning, are all safe.
At least three Kenyan citizens died in the sinking of the tourist boat and an unknown number of others were hospitalized in Watamu.
ANSA learned this from local sources who indicate "about 15" Kenyans on board.
The victims are a boy, a girl and a woman, it is specified without giving age.
An Italian doctor, Franco Ghezzi from Milan, who was on the beach where first aid was provided, told ANSA that he "saw four or five boats in the distance and shortly after there was a great commotion. One of the boats had capsized and the others were trying to get the occupants who had ended up overboard aboard".
Within a few minutes, the vessel of the marine park guards also arrived on site.
