(ANSA) - SAO PAULO, JAN 22 - The defense minister, José Múcio, in confirming the exemption of the army commander, Julio Cesar de Arruda, clarified that the decision was determined by "a lack of confidence".
The initiative, as explained by Mucio, is directly linked to the "question of the sovereign camps and the events of January 8", when the radical supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro invaded the buildings of democracy in Brasilia.
According to some reconstructions, Arruda personally prevented the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, from entering the camp in front of the Army headquarters, in Brasilia, and arresting the demonstrators.
