Investigations continue into the network of supporters of the boss Matteo Messina Denaro, arrested on Monday at the Maddalena clinic in Palermo where he had gone to undergo chemotherapy.
The mafia boss's car was found in Campobello di Mazara, a town where the boss spent at least the last year on the run.
The black Giulietta was in a garage belonging to the son of Giovanni Luppino, the farmer with a clean record who accompanied the Castelvetrano godfather to the nursing home and was arrested with him.
She told the investigators that she had not known, until the day of the blitz, who her "passenger" was, that he, before then, had only seen once a few months ago.

No documents or relevant material were found inside, nor was a GPS useful for reconstructing the movements of the mafia boss.
According to investigators, however,
the car would have been purchased by the mafia boss himself.
Messina Denaro, in January 2022, would have gone to a dealership in Palermo, would have traded in a Fiat 500 and would have paid 10 thousand euros in cash.
Both the purchase contract and the exchange are made out to an 87-year-old disabled woman mother of Andrea Bonafede, the Campobello surveyor who would have lent her identity to the boss since at least 2020, the date of the first surgery to which the mafia boss underwent at the Campobello di Mazara hospital.

The investigators, who in recent days have searched the homes of several people suspected of having favored the boss's hiding, including those of Luppino, Bonafede and his mother and former lawyer Antonio Messina, are analyzing the copious documentation found in the first hideout of the discovered boss, that of vicolo San Vito, also in Campobello di Mazara, and the material seized in Luppino.
These are notes, post-its, shopping lists (the godfather lived in luxury and spent up to 7,000 euros a month), an agenda, telephone numbers, code names.

The attached cells confirmed the suspicions of the carabinieri about the movements of Messina Denaro, alias Bonafede, who was traveling from Campobello di Mazara to Palermo.
