Dani Alves ended up in the eye of the storm after being stopped in Barcelona as part of an investigation into an alleged case of sexual violence.
This was reported by the Catalan regional police, explaining that the footballer, currently in force for the Mexicans of Pumas, a team from the capital, "showed up this morning at the police station in Les Corts, a district of Barcelona, where he had been summoned" .
The player, reports a spokesman for Mossos d'Esquadra, "was taken into custody and was taken to the Court to be heard by a judge".
The Spanish prosecutor then asked for the precautionary custody of Dani Alves, for the story that dates back to the end of December 2022 and which would have occurred in a nightclub in Barcelona.
The player denies the accusations rained down on him but, despite this, the judge who examined the case confirmed the arrest warrant, issuing a provisional custody order.
Summoned to a Barcelona police station this morning, the footballer had been "placed in police custody", then transferred to the Barcelona Tribunal.
On January 10, a Barcelona judge announced that he had "opened an investigation into an alleged crime of sexual violence following a complaint filed by a woman against a footballer", without disclosing her name.
The alleged victim had reported the facts on January 2, accusing the 39-year-old Alves of having laid hands on her.
The facts allegedly took place in a famous nightclub in the Catalan capital, on the night between 30 and 31 December 2022. In a video message from the Spanish channel Antena 3, and broadcast on 5 January, the player categorically denied the facts.
"I was there, in that place, I was spending a nice evening with other people, but without invading the space of others - he said -. I don't know who this young woman is, I don't know her".
Alves was also defended by his wife.
"On the 30th Daniel went to dinner with some friends, to get away for a bit, he really needed it - he said -. He went out to dance and enjoy the music as he knows how to do. Enough".
"He Didn't Do Anything Bad",
