Both the president and the foreign minister have assured their willingness of Egypt to remove the obstacles that can create problems. This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Cairo.
The issue "was raised by President" Sisi, who said "that it is Egypt's intention to resolve and remove all the obstacles to an ever more fruitful collaboration between our two countries", added the head of the Farnesina.

Before the meeting, Tajani went to the cathedral and the Coptic church of St. Peter, where an attack took place in December 2016 that caused 29 deaths.
